Dr. Stern received his BA in Neuropsychology from Columbia University in New York City. He then studied Medicine at the Sackler School of Medicine of Tel Aviv University. Dr. Stern pursued combined training in Internal Medicine and Nuclear Medicine at North Shore University Hospital. He then broadened his imaging training by completing a Radiology residency at Lenox Hill Hospital and then worked for several years in private practice followed by his return to academia, completing a Body Imaging fellowship in the Department of Radiology at Mount Sinai Hospital. He maintains dual board certification in Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine and was instrumental in the creation of the PET-CT service here at Mount Medical Center. His clinical responsibilities now are focused on Body Imaging CT and Ultrasound.
Over the years at Mount Sinai, Dr. Stern has become very involved in education. He has served and continues to serve the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in various undergraduate and graduate medical education capacities. He is the faculty advisor for the school's Radiology Interest Group and has mentored and advised many students over the years. He is the Radiology Department Director of Medical Student Education since 2010. He uses his broad training to teach a wide range of students from first year medical students to advanced fellows and has been recognized for his teaching with numerous awards from the medical school and its students and faculty.
Dr. Stern devotes his time at Mount Sinai to clinical and research work in the Department of Radiology as well as to teaching throughout the medical center. He holds Associate Professor appointments in both the departments of Radiology and Medical Education.
