Imaging Core Facility

The BioMedical Engineering and Imaging Institute (BMEII) is responsible for providing support for all in-vivo imaging research at Mount Sinai. The Imaging Core Facility (the Core) is the backbone of BMEII and is responsible for coordinating, supporting, and executing imaging research at Mount Sinai including:

  • Cancer imaging
  • Cardiovascular imaging
  • Image processing (in the preclinical and clinical settings)
  • Nanomedicine (molecular imaging and drug delivery)
  • Neuroimaging

The Core supports all the image acquisition, image analysis, scheduling, and performance of the proposed experiments. The Core has an extensive and expanding inventory of preclinical (large and small) and clinical research imaging facilities and equipment.

The Core’s resources are fully supported by user fees drawn from research grants, instrumentation grants, industry contracts, and agreements. Our core facilities are available for use to all qualified investigators from academic, medical, government, and industry laboratories.

Facilities and Resources

The BioMedical Engineering and Imaging Institute occupies approximately 20,000 square feet in the Hess Center of Science and Medicine. BMEII is responsible for coordinating and executing all research projects performed in these facilities. The mission of BMEII is to create, develop and apply a variety of innovative and advanced imaging technologies toward a more comprehensive understanding of and better care of the human body. Currently BMEII has over 45 members with expertise in all aspects of translational imaging research. BMEII is currently fully staffed to support all the image acquisition, image analysis, scheduling, and performance of the proposed experiments
