The laboratory of Silvia De Rubeis, PhD, at the Seaver Autism Center for Research and Treatment in the Department of Psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York, is seeking an ambitious, creative, and motivated postdoctoral fellow with expertise in neuroscience to study the mechanisms underlying intellectual disability (ID) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
Dr. De Rubeis’ laboratory aims at translating emerging genetic findings from large-scale genomic studies into functional analyses in cellular and mouse models with the goal of understanding the pathogenic underpinnings of ID and ASD. The laboratory focuses on DDX3X syndrome, a rare genetic disorder associated with ID and ASD, using cellular and animal models. Our team currently includes two postdoctoral fellows, three research associates, and two undergraduate students.

Qualifications and Experience
Basic qualifications:
- PhD, MD, MD/PhD in Neuroscience/Molecular Biology/Cellular Biology;
- Demonstrated expertise in neuroscience;
- Strong record of publications in peer-reviewed journals;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Ability to work in an international and interdisciplinary team.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with primary neuronal cultures;
- Experience with mouse models;
- Good understanding of genetics;
- Familiarity with R and other statistical software.

A Research Assistant position is available for January 2017 in the Chu Lab at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. We use zebrafish to investigate the role of sugar metabolism in liver fibrosis and cancer metabolism.
Job Description / Essential duties:
Provide research assistance for a lab using both zebrafish and tissue culture. Genotype, screen, and maintain zebrafish lines. Maintain lab stock solutions and order reagents.
Requirements:
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Biology/Molecular biology or a related field and relevant research experience. Ideally, candidate has experience in standard molecular biology techniques, such as DNA cloning, PCR, tissue culture and microinjection. Individuals with zebrafish or tissue culture experience will be given priority, and candidates with relevant experience with other animal models are also encouraged to apply.
Skills and Abilities:
Hands-on experience in molecular biology; strong instrumentation skills.
High degree of independence, fast-learner, highly motivated, enthusiastic and strong work ethic.

Computational Genetics and Genomics of Autism and Epilepsy
Post-doctoral researcher to lead NIMH-funded project related to CNV/SNV/indel discovery in autism and epilepsy using exome and whole-genome sequencing (WGS) data generated in our Lab as part of our clinical genomics program (pintolab.mssm.edu/nddprogram), and further integrate with external data. Relevant findings will be followed-up in IPSC-derived neural progenitor cells. The position requires a quantitative background and/or extensive experience with genomic data analysis. Experience in molecular biology and functional validation of disease-associated variants, including cell culture, is a plus but not required. The selected applicant will work within a multidisciplinary team, and interact with clinical scientists, clinical research coordinators and database manager. This position requires demonstrated experience with UNIX, Python, and/or C/C++, and R, and expertise with exome or WGS data.

Computational Genetics and Genomics of Schizophrenia
Post-doctoral researcher to lead NIMH-funded project related to the generation and analysis of short-read and long-read RNAseq in brain samples. The position involves integrating non-coding and coding RNA from large scale data with prior genetic knowledge and epigenetic data, as well as quantifying isoforms, co-expression and network-based analyses and modeling to assess the role of non-coding RNA in gene regulatory networks. We invite you to apply for a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in genetic epidemiology, statistical genetics or related fields with a focused interest in cardiometabolic traits and diseases.
By using genetics, this program aims to understand the biology that underlies the susceptibility to obesity and its links to related cardiometabolic traits. We study common, low frequency and rare variants [1] in an ancestrally diverse population of more than 33,000 individuals recruited throughout New York City through the Mount Sinai’s ongoing BioMe EMR-linked Biobank, [2] in the large-scale UK Biobank (n = 500,000), and [3] in a unique discordant-sibling family study.
In this position you are supervised directly by Ruth Loos, PhD. You have the opportunity to work with a large portfolio of data collections (including EMR-linked, population-based, discordant-family designs) with high-density genotyping data (including genome-wide arrays, ExomeChip, and deep-sequencing), to develop independent research projects, and to participate in large-scale international collaborations.
The ideal candidate has a PhD or equivalent doctorate, a strong background in genetic epidemiology, epidemiology, statistical genetics, bioinformatics, computational biology or a related discipline and has demonstrated scientific productivity. Applicants should have a strong computational background and expertise with statistical genetic/bioinformatic software packages applied to large genomic data sets. S/he will be familiar with approaches to integrate biological information from a wide-range of (publicly available) data resources. Research experience in regulatory genomics and/or the genetics of obesity and cardiometabolic traits is a strong advantage.

Neurodevelopmental disorders are a common group of developmental disabilities affecting individuals of all ages. Understanding the causes and biological mechanisms underlying these disorders is crucial to improve the ability to diagnose and treat individuals.
The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is looking for a postdoctoral researcher to assess the role of noncoding RNAs in gene regulatory networks underlying neurodevelopmental disorders. The position involves integrating noncoding and coding RNA expression data with prior genetic knowledge, as well as quantifying noncoding RNA isoforms, co-expression and network-based analyses and modeling. The candidate will use the latest next-generation sequencing technologies to analyze transcriptomes and identify long full-length noncoding RNA isoform variants.
We are seeking a motivated postdoctoral candidate with strong computational and analytical skills and an interest in applying computational and systems biology approaches. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in genomics, bioinformatics with a strong background in RNA biology and excellent quantitative skills.
