Health Insurance and Other Benefits

Mount Sinai provides health coverage for house officers through the Mount Sinai-Oxford Health Plan. There is also a choice of health coverage through several other HMOs. If you participate in the Mount Sinai Health Plan, there are professional discounts that apply to deductibles, co-insurance, and standard (non-maternity) private room charges when services are rendered at The Mount Sinai Hospital. Routine nursery and obstetric care are provided at no cost to the house officer. There is cost sharing if family coverage is desired. More detailed information regarding all plans is available at the Benefits Office.

Mount Sinai offers, at no cost, basic dental coverage, a prescription drug plan, and a vision plan to the house officer. There are enhanced dental plans and family coverage available with a cost-sharing deductible.

In addition, our house officers are entitled to short- and long-term disability, workers' compensation, life insurance, and accidental death and dismemberment insurance. Dependent care and tax-sheltered annuity plans are also available.

Mount Sinai provides these additional benefits:

  • Malpractice insurance at no cost to you
  • Four weeks of vacation each year
  • Competitive salaries
  • A free shuttle bus throughout the day between the two training sites

Housing

Mount Sinai owns several conveniently located buildings with partially subsidized apartments for the use of house officers and their families. A hospital housing office is available to aid house officers in finding a suitable residence.
