Medical Student Education

In addition to our residency and fellowship programs, we also teach medical students.

Clerkships:

We offer five-week clerkships for third-year medical students at The Mount Sinai Hospital, Mount Sinai West/Morningside, and Elmhurst Hospital Center. The structure of the clerkship is divided into clinical and didactic experiences. Clinical experiences in obstetrics occur on the labor and delivery unit and in our ambulatory clinics. Clinical gynecology experiences occur on the inpatient unit and the operating rooms, as well as our ambulatory clinics. Didactic experiences are composed of daily rounds, seminars, and preceptor sessions.

Fourth-Year Electives:

We offer a variety of electives and experiences for fourth-year students at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. We also have programs for students who are not attending the Medical School. To apply for an away elective, visit the Visiting Student Application Service (VSAS). Note: You must receive authorization from your medical school before logging into VSAS. The Department is currently not accepting students from non-VSAS participating schools.
