OMFS Application Process
The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) Residency Program accepts two residents for its six-year combined OMS/MD Program per each academic year. We participate in the Postdoctoral Application Support Service (PASS) program. PASS is designed to meet the needs of postdoctoral dental programs and their candidates by providing participating programs with information in a standardized format. Additionally, this service relieves candidates of the burden of repetitious individual applications.

Applicants must have a Bachelor of Arts or science degree and be a graduate of an American or Canadian school of dentistry prior to beginning the training program. The applicant should have demonstrated a high level of academic achievement during college and dental school. Mount Sinai is a participant in PASS, as well as the National Resident Matching Program. Official transcripts, National Board of Dental Examiners scores (Part I and Part II, if taken) and letters of recommendation must be forwarded with the application. Interviews will be conducted on an invitation-only basis. Interviewees will be required to complete an OMS supplemental application. Approximately 20 applicants are interviewed for the two positions and the interviews take place during the first three weeks of November.
Tours of the hospital are conducted by OMFS residents. This provides candidates the opportunity to personally meet the residents and ask questions in a relaxed atmosphere. If you require hotel lodging and travel for your interview there are many choices available online.
