New York City

The Institute for Family Health has several Manhattan sites available to third year students in the Ambulatory Care Clerkships. These rotations provide experience in outpatient family medicine. Currently, sites include the Family Health Center of Harlem, the Sidney Hillman and Phillips Family Practice, and the Amsterdam Center.

Second year Mount Sinai medical students with a strong interest in family medicine can express a preference for rotating with the Institute for Family Health as their assigned site during the third year lottery. Please note that a limited number of sites are available. For further details, students can contact Dr. Erika Yamada at or Catherine McCloskey at

For students with an interest in pursuing family medicine, the Department also offers elective rotations. These electives can be two, three, or four weeks in length and are customized for the student. Electives are possible pending space and time. If interested, please contact Rebecca Crowder at with desired dates.
