Interventional Cardiology

The Interventional Cardiology Program at Mount Sinai is an ACGME-accredited fellowship offering one year of advanced training in coronary, non-coronary, and endovascular interventions. Fellows develop proficiency in all aspects of interventions, including routine and complex angioplasty, rotational atherectomy, AngioJet thrombectomy, distal protection devices, and stenting. The program emphasizes physiological lesion assessment using flow wire (FFR) and intravascular ultrasound (IVUS). Over the course of the year, fellows perform 700–1,000 diagnostic catheterizations and 500–700 interventional procedures. In addition to their clinical responsibilities, all fellows participate in clinical research projects over the course of the year. Fellows work with nine full-time faculty members, voluntary attendings, and a large staff of nurse practitioners.
