The Fishberg Department of Neuroscience

The Fishberg Department of Neuroscience is dedicated to performing groundbreaking research and mentoring tomorrow’s investigators. Our nationally and internationally recognized laboratories investigate the nervous system at the molecular, cellular, systems, and behavioral levels. The main objective of our research is to increase knowledge of diseases of the nervous system, and drive new innovations for treatment, through fundamental research.

Axonal Growth & Neuronal Regeneration

The lab is interested in molecular mechanisms of how neurons are born, how they extend axons, and how they regenerate or fail to regenerate after mammalian CNS injury. Read more

Laboratory of Membrane Excitability and Disease

Our research focuses on the function of potassium ion channels, which generate one of the inhibitory signals in the brain. Read more.
