Nash Family Department of Neuroscience

Since 1900, when the Department of Neuroscience established its first inpatient service, we have trained generations of scientists and physicians, and held a reputation for innovation on national and international stages. Our esteemed Department attracts faculty, researchers, trainees, and students globally because of our unmatched contributions to basic and clinical research across neurology, psychiatry, and neurosurgery.

Researchers in our Department investigate the nervous system at the molecular, cellular, systems, and behavioral levels using a variety of model systems, from flies and worms to transgenic mice and rats, to non-human primates and the human brain itself. In addition to groundbreaking research, our scientists mentor and train tomorrow's leaders, providing critical contributions to our graduate and medical education programs.
