Shoulder Surgery Program for Foreign Physicians
The program is designed to provide a general overview on aspects of care for disorders of the shoulder. This three (3) month program will include basic instruction, observation, and limited assistance with surgical procedures, and participation in academic research.
Educational Goals and Objectives
To expose the visiting physician to the standards of patient care for shoulder disorders. To learn and practice basic technical skills in open and arthroscopic shoulder surgery. To assist the program director in various Orthopaedic research projects specializing in the shoulder.
The visiting physician will attend Orthopaedic Grand Rounds, Shoulder Rounds, Academic Meetings, Journal Club, Resident Academic Lectures, Patient Rounds with Program Director, and preoperative surgical indications discussion.
Approx. 10 hours per week
Office Hours: Assist the Program Director with follow-up visits and new consultations. Shoulder Surgery: Assist the Program Director, Fellow, and Residents with surgical procedures in the Operating Room.
Approx. 30 hours per week
A waiver of tuition may be requested.
To qualify for this program it is necessary to have citizenship in a country other than the United States. This program will aid you in obtaining a Visa. It is also necessary to have completed medical school and residency. This program will be most beneficial if the candidate has been in practice for at least a couple of years.
