The Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship at The Mount Sinai Hospital is designed to prepare trainees for a rewarding career in academic pediatric cardiology.
Our graduates occupy leadership positions in many of the leading academic programs in the United States. Most go on to pursue advanced training in sub-disciplines of pediatric cardiology.
Our three-year training program dedicates 24 months to clinical training and 12 months to research. Clinical training consists of rotations through inpatient service, pediatric cardiothoracic intensive care, cardiac catheterization, and non-invasive imaging, and adult congenital heart disease. Fellows are expected to develop and conduct their own research under the mentorship of cardiology faculty. Fellows spend two months of their first year, four months in their second year, and six months in their third year of the fellowship pursuing their scholarly research activities. Scholarly activities cover clinical translational research and quality improvement initiatives. Fellows attend a week-long intensive course covering research design, evaluation, and biostatistics, among other topics. Learn more about the research component of our program
The Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai requires all fellows complete an accredited three-year pediatric or combined medicine-pediatrics residency before beginning their training. Fellowship applicants must be board certified/eligible in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP), or eligible to sit for the ABP general pediatric examination during the first year of fellowship training.
To be considered for the program, submit our Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship Evaluation form, along with three letters of recommendation and a personal statement. Please submit all documents through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). We accept applications through ERAS until July 15. Interviews are conducted between September and the end of November.
