Resident Life

Mount Sinai takes pride in fostering a warm and collegial working environment for residents. Residents organize interclass social events once a month to celebrate the end of each rotation and participate in an annual residents' retreat.

It goes without saying that one of the benefits of coming to residency at Mount Sinai is being able to spend four years in one of the most exciting cities in the world. Mount Sinai is located directly across the street from Central Park, where many a resident has spent a sunny summer day eating lunch or a crisp winter day enjoying the snow. New York City offers unparalleled access to museums, shopping and dining, and performing arts.

The Department of Psychiatry organizes annual department-wide Holiday and Graduation parties. Residents also publish a monthly newsletter called Psych Out, contributing articles designed to inform and entertain their colleagues. In addition, Mount Sinai residents can take full advantage of the recreational activities available in the city and Tri-state area, including group trips to Broadway shows, kayaking on the Hudson River, sunbathing at Jones Beach, participating in a mass karaoke and dance-along event at Prospect Park, and out-spelling the competition at the Housing Works Spelling Bee.

Recreation Office

The Mount Sinai Recreation Office offers discounts for everything from tickets to Broadway shows, performances at the New York Philharmonic, tickets to the U.S. Open, movie tickets, gym memberships and discounts to spas.

If you are looking to get outside the city to enjoy the nearby beaches of Long Island, the wineries of the North Fork and Hudson Valley, or the mountains of Upstate New York, public transportation is easily accessible, and discounts for car rentals are available through the recreation office.

Visit the Mount Sinai Recreation Office website for more details [viewable only on campus].
