Message From the Director

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Urology Residency Program at The Mount Sinai Hospital. Our residency aims to provide a robust clinical and research education to equip our residents to become leaders in academic or private practice urology.

A key strength of our program is the tremendous depth of expertise across all subspecialties of urology. With many faculty members serving as editors of major journals like Journal of Endourology and Journal of Urologic Oncology, residents have ample opportunities to get involved in scholarly publication. Our active research environment presents exciting opportunities for curious minds. With dynamic research teams focused on prostate, bladder, testicular, and kidney cancers as well as diverse collaborative projects, residents become integral contributors. Residents also benefit from the vast clinical resources available through the Mount Sinai Health System. Between our high patient volumes and simulation technology, we provide extensive hands-on surgical training.

Our program is about more than just clinical and research training. We strive to create a collaborative, family-like environment. Our mentor program pairs residents with faculty members to foster ongoing career development and advice. Meanwhile, our new coaching system enables residents to get real-time feedback from attendings during each rotation. We also actively encourage residents to provide input on shaping the curriculum, research directions, and patient care policies.

As Program Director, my vision is to continue elevating our surgical simulation and robotics curriculum to the most advanced level possible. Based on resident feedback, I also aim to keep improving our care for complex geriatric urology patients through partnerships with geriatrics and social work. Our aim is to nurture our residents' growth, both as masterful surgeons and compassionate physicians.
