We provide comprehensive medical coverage for residents and their families.
Residents are covered by Mount Sinai at no cost to you.
All residents receive on-call rooms.
Vacation and Time Off
Residents are entitled to 20 weekdays of vacation each year. You must take your vacations must be taken in one-week blocks, one week each quarter. You must get approval for your vacation from the Chief of Staff and Residency Program Director at the rotating institute. This applies to all rotations, including off-service rotations. We will honor vacation requests in accordance with level of training priority.
As a resident, you will travel to clinical and research meetings for the presentation of papers and research projects carried out in conjunction with faculty. In addition, we pay for each chief resident to attend the Annual American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) meeting. Stipend includes lowest fare domestic coach air travel, meeting registration, and per diem for expenses.
New York City offers an extraordinary array of artistic, athletic, cultural, and intellectual activities and events. The Mount Sinai Recreation Office is available to assist you in obtaining free and discounted tickets for theater, sports, and other events. Discounted memberships to a nearby health and fitness center with extensive facilities are available to all residents.
Mount Sinai owns several conveniently located buildings with partially subsidized apartments for the use of house officers and their families. A hospital housing bureau is available to aid residents in finding a suitable residence.
You will be provided with the following:
