Research Overview

The seed of vascular biology in CV disease at Mount Sinai began with Valentin Fuster’s work and his recruitment of the future leaders that have now risen.

The leading killer in the developed world is atherosclerosis, and vascular biology research is the key that will unlock the cure.  Mount Sinai is home to two of the most prominent researchers in this field:

  • Dr. Zahi Fayad is the leading researcher in molecular magnetic resonance imaging
  • Dr. Juan Badimon’s animal models of experimental coronary artery disease have led to new discoveries regarding the nature of the disease
