About Our Unit
The CRU includes a number of resources for investigators to undertake clinical research, including nursing support, specimen processing, and research space. The Clinical Research Unit (CRU) is the hub for conducting clinical and translational research at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS). Established in 1963 as a General Clinical Research Center, our current CRU is located on the ground floor of the Annenberg Building at 1468 Madison Avenue in New York City. There are approximately 100 active protocols under our auspices, representing studies in virtually every discipline, institute, and department at ISMMS.
We are pleased to offer services to meet the diverse needs of the Mount Sinai research community. Our physical location includes:
- Fully equipped exam rooms
- Nurse practitioners available to assist with research participant medical evaluations and nurses who are expert in all aspects of clinical research nursing, specimen collection, and participant care and adverse event monitoring
- Short-term specimen storage
- Walk-in phlebotomy
Investigators interested in using our resources must submit an application for review by the CRU Administrative Committee. To submit an application, login to RUTH and assign an ancillary review to the CRU. After approval, the PI/study team meets with CRU staff to arrange the initiation of the study.
Scheduling
The operating hours of the CRU are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am–5:30 pm. Participants must be scheduled at least 48 hours in advance of the visit.
