The Grants and Contracts Office (GCO) of the Icahn School of Medicine (ISMMS) is the centralized administrative office that oversees the sponsored programs application and pre-award process and provides support to faculty regarding research activities. The GCO documents policy, provides on-going information to faculty regarding sponsorship, policy changes, funding opportunities, and generally assists faculty in all aspects of the pre-award process. The GCO also collects data regarding faculty research performance and reports to senior management regarding institutional performance.
All sponsored project applications and a subset of ISMMS supported projects are prepared in InfoEd and routed for approval through the department(s) in which there are key personnel each year of the project. Please review GCO’s complete submission requirements including exceptions here. All sponsored projects must be submitted through InfoEd and reviewed by the GCO before submitting to an external funding agency, including those where an institutional signature isn’t required.
We evaluate each program and proposal for accuracy of administrative information and budget, as well as for compliance with Federal, State, New York City, and ISMMS regulations, such as those pertaining to biosafety, or to the use of human subjects, vertebrate animals, or recombinant DNA.
