The OAEM Partners are groups within Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai that are committed to promoting and growing mentorship of junior faculty.
Institute for Medical Education (IME) – The IME is dedicated to creating, educating, mentoring and retaining the best educators for our students, residents and faculty. Fostering the success of educators includes recognizing and rewarding those who display dedication and excellence in their work, and providing programs that develop and reinforce their scholarship, teaching skills and successful promotion. In so doing, IME creates a community of committed educators who contribute their knowledge and experience and mentorship to junior faculty.
Office for Women's Careers (OWC) (Sandra Masur, PhD, Director) – Under the leadership of the Director, this office is dedicated to advancing women's academic careers and addressing potential impediments to success. OWC offers opportunities for women faculty to network across departments, serves as an advocacy and mentoring resource, and provides a forum for support, education and discussion.
Faculty Scholars Program (FSP)/Center for Multicultural Affairs (Gary Butts, MD, Associate Dean for Diversity Programs and Policy) – The Faculty Scholars program aims to develop underrepresented minority (URM) faculty and nurture their success in academic medicine. FSP seeks to increase the capability and expand the capacity of URM faculty in all research, teaching, community service, clinical practice and professional leadership.
Office of Postdoctoral Affairs – For Postdoctoral Trainees a key mentor is the Principal Investigator with whom they work directly, but most successful Fellows will have several mentors. Such mentors can be other faculty, other fellows or anyone that is in a position to provide guidance and assistance. The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs looks to provide resources to help trainees initiate and build a mentoring relationship with faculty members.
