Fellowships

Q: Acme Corporation is offering a fellowship to a trainee in our department. Can she accept?
A: A fellowship sponsored by a commercial entity must present a legitimate educational opportunity without creating an obligation to the company. Selection of recipients should be through a competitive process based on publicized, objective criteria. Reporting of patient care data should never be a requirement of a commercially sponsored fellowship. A fellowship recipient cannot have a role in which he/she might influence or make decisions regarding purchase or use of products from the vendor. Fellowship applications should be reviewed/approved by the Chair or designee prior to submission.
