New York City Life

From Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall to Broadway Shows and the New York City Ballet, there is more to experience in New York City than can possibly be listed here. Mount Sinai’s Recreation Office provides discount tickets to all of these and more, including shopping, restaurants, sports events, and health club membership.

Around Mount Sinai Hospital

Museums

Mount Sinai Hospital is located along Museum Mile, a stretch of museums on Fifth Avenue between 82nd and 105th Streets. It is a short walk to the Guggenheim Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, as well as the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum, The Neue Galerie, and many others. The Museum Mile Festival, which takes place every year in June, provides free admission to the museums with outdoor music, street performers, and art workshops.

Central Park

Mount Sinai Hospital overlooks Central Park, an 843-acre park designed by Frederick Law Olmsted in 1857. The Park has two ice-skating rinks, a zoo, running paths, ponds, horse-carriage rides, a carousel, gardens, boating, and much more. It hosts many outdoor events including Shakespeare in the Park, SummerStage concerts, and the New York Opera.

Central Park is a favorite lunch spot for neurology residents, who can be found enjoying the scenery on the lawn of the East Meadow. In recent years the residency graduation has been held at Central Park’s famous restaurants, The Boathouse and Tavern on the Green.
