Is there a minimum USMLE score requirement?
A: Although the Department does not have a minimum score requirement, applicants who match with our program frequently score above 200.

Is it necessary to take the USMLE Step 2 exam prior to applying to your program?
A: No, our program only requires a Step 1 exam score at the time of application.

Does your program accept applications from Foreign Medical Graduates?
A: We accept and review applications from students of all accredited medical and osteopathic schools.

Will you consider applicants outside of the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP)?
A: Our program participates in the match, and regulations require us to post all of our available positions. All interested applicants should be registered in the NRMP.

Do you accept applicants outside of the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS)?
A: No. We will only review applications through ERAS.

Do you require prior experience in Radiation Oncology at the time of the interview?
A: Although prior experience is not a requirement, our program does look favorably on research and clinical rotations that indicate interest in Radiation Oncology.

May I send additional information outside of ERAS?
A: Please do not send any additional information. Only documents received via ERAS will be reviewed.

When are interviews held?
A: Interviews are held each year from November through early January.

How many positions are available?
A: We recruit one or two PGY2 residents per year.

How many applicants do you interview?
A: We routinely interview 20 – 30 applicants per available spot.

Do you offer internships?
A: There are internship opportunities at Mount Sinai, but it requires a separate application process.
