About Student Affairs at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai

The Student Affairs mission is to promote the success and well-being of our students by providing support, mentorship and guidance on all aspects of student life throughout medical school and in planning the next phases of their careers.

We do this by offering:

  • A comprehensive system of advising
  • Support for academic needs
  • Programming pertaining to career planning, specialty selection and residency application
  • Special events to commemorate milestones and celebrate achievements
  • Connections to school and institutional services and departments

We are committed to:

  • Advocating for student needs, both individual and collective
  • Respecting the individuality of each student
  • Listening to student concerns and partnering on solutions
  • Being available, accessible, and responsive
  • Being accurate and current with our programming and advising
  • Being transparent and fair about our policies and expectations of students
  • Protecting confidentiality
  • Fostering a diverse and inclusive environment

Student Affairs is a central resource of information, partnering with Curricular Affairs, the Medical Student Research Office, the Center for Multicultural and Community Affairs Student Council and Admissions. Student Affairs also has strong relationships with the clinical departments at Mount Sinai to help students identify mentors and to facilitate the residency application process.
