Biological Safety Training
The Annual training sessions are available on-line so that anyone can take the training at their convenience. In order to use the system, all individuals need to be entered into the system once, by completing the Upload Template [XLS], using their first, last names, life numbers and three digit numerical code for their departments. If an individual does not have a life number due to the nature of their volunteer work or visiting status (non-employee), a surrogate life number can be created by using a seven-number combination from his/her date of birth (for example if 01/01/1999, a reasonable surrogate would be 1011999. Write it down, so you can access at a later date. Submit the form as an attachment to an e-mail to the Biosafety Officer at philip.hauck@mssm.edu. All results will be maintained in a database each department. If you have any questions, contact the BSO at: 241-5169.
- Biosafety Principles Training — NIH and CDC required for Select Agents, and Recombinant DNA projects.
- BloodBorne Pathogen Standard Training — OSHA required for all Faculty and Staff working with Human source fluids, tissues and cells.
