Ongoing PPHS Educational Events:

IRB 101

  • The class provides an introduction to the role of the IRB and guidance through either the paper or electronic submission process
  • Familiarize yourself with the submission terms and steps
  • Sign up and attend if you are/will be involved in the design, conduct, and/or reporting of human research studies, are new to Mount Sinai, or are looking for a refresher on the submission process
  • Class is 1-hour with short lecture and hands-on exercises
  • Prerequisites:
    • None, however completion of the CITI education modules is strongly encouraged prior to attending class

IRB 201

  • This Class explores the content and requirements of the protocol template and consent document
  • Receive some guidance on how to complete these forms. You are encouraged to bring to this class examples of draft protocols and consent forms that you/PI are currently writing
  • Sign up and attend if you are seeking help with protocol and consent writing and looking for tips from the PPHS to ensure documentation is accurate and complete
  • Class is 90-minutes with short lecture and hands-on exercises
  • Prerequisites:
    • Attendance at IRB 101 or similar experience
    • Completion of the CITI education modules is strongly encouraged prior to attending class

IRB One-on-One Meetings

Brief personal meetings designed for residents or graduate students who are planning on conducting human research. These meetings can be instrumental in gaining an understanding of how to address the issues posed by various types of research activities. Participants are strongly encouraged to come with specific questions for these focus meetings. Contact the main office to make an appointment for a slot at the next event. These dedicated events typically take place monthly.
