Icahn School of Medicine maintains a campus wide video conferencing network and assists individuals and departments with live two way interactive video connectivity to any compatible video system in the world. The H.320/H.323 standard industry protocol supports both IP and ISDN links.
There are approximately two dozen registered end points (rooms) on campus and at affiliates that have equipment capable of establishing a video virtual presence for meetings and consultations. Support of special events such as connecting to key note speakers to / from far sites can be arranged. Currently we offer Medicine, Pediatric, Ob-Gyn, Psychiatry, Geriatric and Surgery Rounds provided to properly equipped affiliates. This equipment is available on an hourly basis and rates depend on support requirements. A video bridging service allows multiple sites to be connected at the same time. Additional services can be added from outside bridging service companies.
To access this service please obtain the technical contact of the site you wish to connect to for your event and contact Telemedicine Services to initiate a certification test with the site. Once certified an event may be scheduled.
Currently there are installed systems in East Seminar Room, Goldwurm, Hatch, Stern. Smaller venues are available for 1 to 20 people.
