Curriculum & Course Schedule

The Master of Science in Biomedical Informatics program at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai consists of 45 credits. Ten of those credits include a capstone project in a research or clinical field.

Our program offers a unique, practical approach focused on tackling biomedical questions with relevant computational and data analytic skills.

The MS-BMI program welcomes full-time and part-time students.  Full-time students complete the program in two years; part-time students may take up to five years, depending on their particular needs.  Students taking the program part-time will expand the timeline of their progress towards milestones relative to the full-time rates described in the requirements below. 

As a student, your first year will include biological sciences courses and computing courses.  Your second year will allow you to concentrate in one of three areas of concentration. These include biophysics and systems pharmacology; clinical and translational informatics; or genetics and genomic sciences.
