Message From the Director

If you aspire to attend medical school or pursue advanced graduate studies, the Master of Science in Biomedical Science Program at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is the perfect place to start. Our Program is specifically designed to provide you with a rigorous education in the classroom and in the laboratory, preparing you for a successful career in the field of biomedical research.

For over 17 years, our Program has been a catalyst for success, consistently preparing our students for future academic and professional endeavors. Our graduates have gone on to achieve remarkable milestones, including entering MD, MD/PhD, and PhD training programs or landing sought-after positions in the biotech and industry job markets. With Icahn Mount Sinai as your launchpad, the possibilities for your future in biomedical science are endless.

Our faculty is deeply committed to both excellence in teaching and groundbreaking research. We strongly encourage and support diversity in both our faculty and student body. Our small student population, which is 741 graduate students in total, ensures that you will receive the individual attention, tailored advising, and research opportunities you need for success. You won’t just receive a mentor; you’ll develop a strong and supportive connection to the faculty.

The Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences is a highly collegial place. Clinicians, clinician-scientists, translational researchers, basic scientists, students, and postdocs all share the same space. As a student here, you will be part of that space as well, working with our world-renowned researchers and educators. Our Program will give you the preparation you need for admissions and continued success in medical school, graduate school, or an industry-related career.
