Visiting Students from LCME-Approved Institutions
Qualified students currently attending other American or foreign medical schools are welcome to take electives at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Application forms are available below.
Please begin the application process four-to-six months in advance.
Only students who are in good standing and have not yet received their M.D. or D.O. degree are eligible to apply.
- Applicants who attend LCME accredited schools in the United States and Puerto Rico must use the Visiting Student Application Service (VSAS)
- Applicants who attend schools in Canada must fill out the Visiting Student Application [PDF]
- All other students attending other schools must complete the Foreign Visiting Student Application [PDF]

Positive titer serology for Measles, Rubella and Hepatitis B are required from foreign students. We will accept MMRs and a 3-dose series for Hepatitis B from visiting students.
Attention Visiting Students: New Policies Effective Immediately
As part of the New York State Department of Health requirement, effective immediately all students, physicians, and staff are required to be vaccinated for seasonal flu as well as H1N1 when supplies are available. Foreign visiting students do not call the divisions directly. They must submit all documents to the address on top of the first page of Foreign Visiting Student Application for processing. Apply to the New York State Department of Education for an Eligibility Letter after you have been accepted by Icahn School of Medicine.
