Visiting Students from LCME-Approved Institutions
Qualified students currently attending other American or foreign medical schools are welcome to take electives at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
For students attending foreign medical schools outside of the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada, please continue to the Foreign Visiting Students site.
Application Instructions (US, Puerto Rico, Canada)
Only students who are in good standing and have not yet received their M.D. or D.O. degree are eligible to apply.
- Applicants who attend LCME accredited schools in the United States and Puerto Rico must use the Visiting Student Application Service (VSAS)
- Applicants who attend schools in Canada must fill out the Visiting Student Application [PDF]
Please begin the application process four to six months in advance.
Influenza Vaccination Requirement
As part of the New York State Department of Health requirement, effective immediately all students, physicians, and staff are required to be vaccinated for seasonal flu as well as H1N1 when supplies are available. Infection Control Requirement
The New York State Education Department has issued an alert to all New York medical schools, mandating that every medical student taking an elective in New York State Hospitals be certified in Infection Control. Please open the following document for details on how to complete this certification.
