The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai maintains the highest standards for transparent and ethical conduct of research, in compliance with federal, state, and international guidelines and regulations. For this reason, you will need to be approved to work with biologics, animals, and/or human subjects. We process these approvals using electronic forms.
What are InfoEd and RUTH?
InfoEd helps us internally route and manage all research and sponsored project applications. We also use it to electronically submit applications for competitive National Institutes of Health (NIH) single projects, and other federally sponsored projects. We call these projects System to System Submissions, or S2S.
RUTH is an electronic submission system for both the PPHS office and researchers to manage research projects involving human subjects. For the PPHS office, RUTH streamlines the workflow of reviewing and approving studies. Meanwhile, for researchers, RUTH streamlines the process of having studies (requiring new requests or multiple submissions) approved.
How can I receive training in these software systems?

To attend training sessions for RUTH, you can visit the Training Calendar on the Research Administration Portal. Additionally, Training Videos can be located on either the Research Administration Portal (click here) or on Peak (search for RUTH).
What platforms and browsers work best with InfoEd and RUTH?
Both InfoEd and RUTH are compatible with all leading browsers.
How do I access InfoEd and/or RUTH off campus?
You can access InfoEd on and off campus through the program's secure server with your Mount Sinai Single Sign-On User ID and password. You can access RUTH here by logging in with your Mount Sinai Single Sign-On credentials.

How do I obtain a username and password?
You can request a research username and password for InfoEd through Mount Sinai's online ticketing system (Select "InfoEd-New User Request" from the drop-down menu).
You do not need to request a username or password for RUTH as you can log in using your Mount Sinai Single Sign-on username and password. If you have any issues doing so, please reach out to esupport@mssm.edu.
How do I change or reset my password for RUTH and/or InfoEd?
To reset your password on InfoEd and/or RUTH, please visit passwordreset.mountsinai.org.
Once your InfoEd account is created, it is linked to your Single Sign-On User ID and password. RUTH is accessed via Single Sign-On credentials as well.
