Flow Cytometry Clinical Services

The following services are provided:

Stem Cell Quantitation

This procedure is performed for the Transplant Service and individual physicians, with a turn-around time of two hours. Peripheral blood is collected in a pediatric green top tube and delivered to our Laboratory at 18-24°C as quickly as possible. Apheresis product is placed in a tube without anticoagulant and delivered immediately to the laboratory at 18-24°C.

Malignant Leukocyte Immunophenotyping

Typing of peripheral blood, bone marrow aspirates, various fluids, tissues, and fine needle aspirates is performed with a turn-around time of 24-48 hours. STAT samples can be processed within two to three hours. Peripheral blood and bone marrow aspirates are placed in green top tubes and delivered to our Laboratory at 18-24°C as quickly as possible. Fluids are collected in sterile containers and tissues and fine needle aspirates are placed in sterile media. If not immediately deliverable, the latter are stored at 2-8°C until processed. The immunophenotyping results are reviewed and interpreted by one of our Laboratory’s experienced hematopathologists.

Our Laboratory’s hematopathologists and staff members are also available to answer questions and provide analyses for research projects.
