Hematology and Coagulation

The Hematology and Coagulation Laboratory at Mount Sinai Hospital performs a wide range of routine and special hematology and coagulation testing. It serves a 1,170 bed teaching hospital including the Ruttenberg Cancer Center, as well as extensive out-patient and community outreach programs.

The Hematology Laboratory works closely with other laboratories within the medical center (including Flow Cytometry, Molecular Diagnostics, and Tumor Cytogenetics) to deliver comprehensive care in diagnosis and therapy.

The missions of the Hematology Laboratory are to:

  • Provide state-of-the-art testing for diagnosis and treatment
  • Develop novel technologies for clinical and research applications
  • Test diagnostic and prognostic disease markers that impact tailored therapy in support of our commitment to personalized medicine
  • Maintain patient care and safety
  • Maintain the highest levels of teaching excellence
