Mood and Personality Disorders Research Program
The Mood and Personality Disorders Research Program (MPDP) at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS) harnesses cutting-edge neuroscience research tools to expand our understanding of personality disorders in order to develop better psychological and pharmacological treatments, diagnostic tools, and ultimately effective approaches to prevention.
MPDP has been dedicated to expanding the understanding of the biological and psychological underpinnings of mood and personality through a combination of clinical and neuropsychological assessments, neuroimaging, genetics, and clinical expertise since it was founded at ISMMS in 1989. The program is committed to advancing the scientific knowledge and treatment of mood and personality disorders such as schizotypal personality disorder, borderline personality disorder, and intermittent explosive disorder, and helping patients gain a more complete understanding of themselves.
