Patient Care Information

The Pediatric Environmental Health Specialty Unit (PESHU) provides medical care to children who have been affected by environmental exposures. PEHSU pediatricians have provided treatment and guidance to the families of children who have experienced toxic environmental exposures or are suspected of suffering from diseases of environmental origin. Because children’s environmental health covers a wide variety of issues, the PEHSU network is comprised of experts in pediatrics, allergy/immunology, neurodevelopment, toxicology, occupational and environmental medicine, nursing, and other specialized areas.

In addition to children and families, the PEHSU also provide clinical consultation and education for health care professionals, public health officials, and community organizations with concerns regarding children's environmental health. The PEHSU network is capable of responding to requests throughout New York State, and they offer advice on prevention, diagnosis, management, and treatment of environmentally-related health effects in children.
