Jersey City Medical Center/LibertyHealth is a major teaching hospital affiliate of Icahn School of Medicine.

Jersey City Medical Center is the tertiary care "anchor" teaching hospital in the LibertyHealth System. Jersey City Medical Center is located on a new, 15-acre campus overlooking the New York Harbor and Liberty State Park. The hospital is in the exciting Downtown section of Jersey City and near the New Jersey Turnpike, PATH train, and ferries. The Bergen-Hudson Light Rail Station (at Jersey and Grand) is located on our campus. The campus presently includes three facilities: the Wilzig Hospital, the Medical Office Building and the Provident Bank Ambulatory Center. The Medical Office Building also houses the state-of-the-art Cristie Kerr Women’s Health Center and the Comprehensive Spine Institute of New Jersey.

Jersey City Medical Center is accredited by the Joint Commission, and is the only Magnet Hospital for Nursing Excellence in Hudson, Essex, or Union counties. New Jersey Monthly and Castle Connolly named it the best hospital under 350 beds in 2010. A major teaching affiliate of Icahn School of Medicine, the hospital serves as a regional referral teaching hospital and provides the highest level of care for women and infants as well as trauma and cardiac patients.

Inside our spacious facility, natural light bathes patients’ rooms and the Statue of Liberty gleams outside the windows. Throughout the hospital, the best and brightest medical professionals use the latest technologies to provide state-of-the-art compassion. During the past three years, the hospital has recruited over 200 new physicians in private practice to its staff.

Jersey City Medical Center provides a broad range of essential acute and ambulatory care services and programs. These programs include regional referral programs in perinatal care, child development, renal dialysis, and cardiac catheterization. The Medical Center is also the regional Perinatal Center for prenatal and neonatal care for high-risk mothers and infants as well as one of New Jersey's nine Level II Trauma Centers. The Emergency Medical Services Department provides Advanced Life Support for Hudson County and Basic Life Support for Jersey City and Secaucus. The highly urban catchment area of Hudson County is ethnically diverse, and many of those served are from economically disadvantaged and underserved groups.
