Since its founding as a twelve-bed hospital in 1867, St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center has grown to become one of the largest medical centers in New Jersey. With more than 1.6 million patient visits per year, the hospital is the hub of the St. Joseph's Healthcare System, which provides a full spectrum of outstanding healthcare services.
With more than 1,200 medical staff members and 5,000 employees, St. Joseph's Healthcare System is the largest employer in Passaic County, the second largest provider of charity care in New Jersey, and the healthcare provider of choice for residents of the region. St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center maintains a strong commitment to education, and conducts groundbreaking clinical research while providing high-quality patient care. Areas of study include Cytogenetics, Neurophysiology, Cell Culture, Flow Cytometry, Cell Sorting, Molecular Biology, Hematology, Rheumatology and Immunology. In addition, clinical investigations are ongoing in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology; Maternal and Fetal Medicine; Dermatology; Nephrology; and the pediatric subspecialties of Allergy and Immunology, Hematology and Oncology, Infectious Disease, Nephrology and Pulmonary Medicine.
