One student from each year plus one student on scholarly leave will serve on a student resource panel to hear the concerns of fellow students who may have experienced mistreatment in an educational or clinical setting. The student on scholarly leave and onsite at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai will serve at the head of the panel. The Medical School ombudspeople will serve on the committee as faculty advisors. The students on this panel will maintain confidentiality and refer students to med school administration or the Grievance Board as needed. The panel will also work to will provide ongoing education to students, residents, fellows, faculty, and other staff emphasizing the importance of an optimal learning environment. All information handled and discussed by this committee is strictly confidential and these representatives are not required to attend Student Council meetings.
