The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is committed to supporting all of our investigators and laboratory staff by providing information about both the research administration processes and the training you need to comply with state and federal requirements. Some of the training requirements are:
Financial Conflict of Interest in Research
You will have to complete training on Mount Sinai's Financial Conflict of Interest (FCOI) in Research Policy in PEAK, if you fall into one of the following categories: chairs/alternatives and those with signatory authority for grant approval; investigators involved in research; or other staff involved in the grant submissions process. Following initial training, you will be required to take refresher training at least every four years. You must complete FCOI training prior to submitting a research grant application.

Learn how to use InfoEd, the software program, Mount Sinai uses to internally route and manage all research and sponsored project applications. Mount Sinai also uses InfoEd to submit single project, competitive Federal applications. These classes are offered in PEAK on line on demand. Go to PEAK > OnLine Courses > Functional > Research
Project Administration
Training in sponsored project administration and the research proposal process is available through PEAK.
Grants, Finance, and Compliance
Mount Sinai provides researchers with information about training and education opportunities provided by the GCO, the National Institutes of Health, professional organizations, and others.
The GCO and Sponsored Projects Accounting co-lead an optional web based class on Grants and Finance Compliance. Find this class in PEAK under Online Courses / Research/Grants Compliance.
Subject-Specific Training
Additional training may be required, depending on the type of research you do. Specifically, you may need to gain instruction from the Program for the Protection of Human Subjects, the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), and the Institutional Biosafety Committee.
