Center for Genomic AI and Microbiome Medicine

At the Center for Genomic AI and Microbiome Medicine, our mission is to deliver transformative advances in precision medicine—discoveries that deepen biological understanding and lead directly to better outcomes for patients. We harness Mount Sinai’s world-class strengths in clinical care and biomedical science, together with cutting-edge long-read genomic technologies and high-resolution microbiome profiling, to capture the biological signals that conventional approaches often miss. We then apply advanced genomic AI and systems biology to integrate human genetics, microbiome features, and clinical data—enabling improved prediction of disease trajectory and drug response, and guiding more personalized interventions, with a clear goal of improving the responses of individual patients.

What sets the Center apart is our integrated, translational approach. We work side-by-side with Mount Sinai physicians and disease experts and build bridges across departments and institutes, so that our research remains grounded in clinical need and accelerates the path from discovery to patient impact.

We will initially focus on three flagship areas—Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and gastrointestinal cancers—where we see uniquely actionable opportunities to combine genetics and microbiome science for prediction, intervention, and prevention.

As Director, I am grateful to lead a collaborative community united by a shared purpose: to make precision medicine more predictive, more actionable, and more preventive. We welcome clinicians, scientists, trainees, and supporters who share this mission, and we are always open to collaboration and conversation.
