Current and Past Fellows

Current Fellows

Kathryn Bambino, PhD (2014-2017)
Research Interest: Mechanism of action of early life exposure to inorganic arsenic using zebrafish as a model system.

Kaya Kappiil, PhD (2013-2016)
Research Interest: Assessing imprinted genes in the placenta as potential in utero markers of exposure and health outcomes.

Maria Rosa, PhD (2014-2016)
Research Interest: How factors in the environment such as stress and exposure to air pollution influence children’s lung growth and development and understanding what life stages are most susceptible to these exposures.

Ryan Walker, PhD (2013-2016)
Ryan’s current work involves better understanding the early establishment of the fetal gut microbiota and the role of the microbiome in the etiology of obesity and related diseases. The aim of this work is to 1. identify mediators of the gut bacterial population so as to establish targets for interventions to improve health outcomes and 2. to unravel cause vs. consequence in the relationships between diet, microbiome and host health.

Lauren Zajac, MD (2013-2016)
Research Interest: The impact of early life housing stress on childhood asthma; and also the impact of prenatal lead exposure at toxic hot spots around the world.

Laura Zheng, PhD (2015-2018)
Research Interest: Metal exposures, pregnancy outcomes, and neurodevelopment.
