Run by residents, the Cover-to-Cover Club reviews all relevant topics within the discipline of general surgery. Each week, the group covers one chapter of either the Sabiston Textbook of Surgery or Current Surgical Therapy by John L. Cameron. The schedule covers approximately 30 pages per week, with longer chapters split between two weeks.
A faculty mentor attends most sessions, where participants review key topics in the assigned chapter. The group also reviews questions to prepare for both the annual in-service exam and general surgery boards.
With meetings every Tuesday, the Cover-to-Cover Club encourages residents to read and study in an organized, routine manner. The interactive sessions also build camaraderie outside the hospital setting.
