Christina Wyatt, MD, is an Associate Professor of Medicine (Nephrology), and Associate Chair of Research for the Department of Medicine. Dr. Wyatt received her medical degree at Duke University and completed both her residency and fellowship training at The Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was also a Chief Resident. She is a prolific researcher whose outstanding work has focused on HIV-related kidney disease. As Director of HIV-Related Kidney Disease Clinical Studies, her current NIH R01 study focuses on the potential for kidney and bone toxicity in HIV-negative individuals who are taking antiretroviral pre-exposure prophylaxis to reduce the risk of HIV infection. She is a co-investigator on an R01 investigating the impact of statin therapy on kidney disease risk in HIV-positive individuals. She also serves as the director of the clinical core of a translational program project grant (P01) investigating the pathogenesis of HIV-associated nephropathy, and as a co-investigator on a translational R01 evaluating the kidney as a potential reservoir for HIV. 

Christina is an invited lecturer and presenter and the author of numerous papers. She is also an associate editor for Kidney International, on the editorial board of the Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome, and co-chair of the Kidney Disease Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) Controversies Conference on HIV-Related Kidney Diseases. She has served as a mentor to many graduate and post-doctoral trainees.
