Biography
Dr. Morris completed study in the Medical University of South Carolina’s Medical Scientist Training Program with a combine MD/PhD degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology and Pathobiology in 1998. Her PhD dissertation was on anti-apoptotic mechanisms of drug resistance in acute myeloid leukemia. She completed her internship and residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, and her fellowship in Medical Oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center, in Philadelphia. She returned to the Kimmel Cancer Center at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in the Solid Tumor Division, where she focused on breast and ovarian cancers, brain tumors, and pancreatic cancers. There, she was PI for several clinical trials and conducted clinical research in breast cancer disparities, for which her work was recognized atBest of ASCO in 2007. She has recently practiced in Northeast Pennsylvania and directed a Family Cancer Risk Assessment Program after completing an Intensive Course in Clinical Genetics at the City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center and Beckwith Research Institute. She is a patient advocate for FORCE (Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered).
Dr. Morris is a feature editor for the Seminars in Oncology (http://www.seminoncol.org/content/ccp), author of several clinical papers, and a reviewer for several clinical and scientific journals.
