Research
Psychological Support for Cancer Patients and Their Families
Dr. Diefenbach is a social/health psychologist with particular interest in treatment decision making and health communication. He develops and evaluates innovative approaches to improve patient knowledge. These approaches are integrated into the clinical consultation process. When needed he is available to consult directly with patients and family members. He leads a federally funded research program that aims to improve treatment decision making, patient-physician communication, and quality of life through innovative patient and family focused programs.Industry Relationships
Physicians and scientists on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai often interact with pharmaceutical, device and biotechnology companies to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs. In order to promote an ethical and transparent environment for conducting research, providing clinical care and teaching, Mount Sinai requires that salaried faculty inform the School of their relationships with such companies.
