Dr. Rachel Masch is a native of New York.  She attended Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island where she majored in International Relations.  Her interest in women's reproductive rights and health care issues steered her into medical school at Brown University School of Medicine and then into a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology.  She did her internship and residency at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center in Reading, Pennsylvania.  After completing her training, she came back to New York and joined the faculty of New York University School of Medicine.

In keeping with her desire to further women's health care internationally, Dr. Masch obtained a Masters in Public Health from The Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University.  This degree enabled her to further her work in reproductive rights, and she began the Reproductive Choice Service at NYU/Bellevue, where she was the Medical Director and also became a Fellowship Director in Family Planning.  She has received multiple medical student and resident teaching awards throughout her career and has continued her international work, providing medical consultation and clinical care in American Samoa, Vietnam, South Africa and El Salvador. She is currently the Executive Director of Basic Health International, an organization dedicated to the eradication of cervical cancer globally.

Dr. Masch has published in peer-reviewed journals in her main areas of interest: contraception, education, cervical cancer, miscarriage and the culturally-sensitive provision of care. Her research is ongoing.  Dr. Masch is the Associate Director of the Division of Family Planning at Mount Sinai Beth Israel.
