Dr. Elaine Rabin is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and the Program Director for the Residency in Emergency Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital. In addition to medical education, Dr. Rabin has a longstanding academic focus on health policy issues including hospital crowding, healthcare disparities and how healthcare system structures affect access to care. In addition to the positions listed below, Dr. Rabin previously served as Co-chair for the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine's Boarding and Crowding Interest Group, a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians' Public Health and Injury Prevention Committee and the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene's Emergency Department Nonfatal Overdose Advisory Committee, and as the Associate Program Director and Director of Resident Research for the Residency in Emergency Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Dr. Rabin's research interests include the interactions of patients with the health care system, and how system design affects behavior. She is also interested in the dynamics of Emergency Department nursing workloads.
