Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN)Dr. Rhoda Sperling is a Professor in the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, with a joint appointment in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Science as well as the Department of Medicine, Division of Medical ID. She is an internationally recognized expert in OBS-GYN infectious diseases.
Dr. Sperling's practice focuses on office gynecology, including menopause management; treatment and prevention of sexually transmitted infections; treatment and prevention of vulvo-vaginitis; and treatment and prevention of HPV-related diseases. She also is the director of the MSH-ObID clinic, which provides comprehensive care and case management services to women with HIV and other viral infections complicating pregnancy.
Dr. Sperling is an active member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) Immunization and Emerging Infections Expert Working Group (IEIEWG). This group addresses policy and practice issues related to adult immunization and OBS-GYN infectious diseases. She has contributed to numerous practice guidelines. Her research career has focused on two broad areas: strategies to reduce the risk of horizontal and vertical transmission of viral pathogens, as well as immunology and pregnancy.
