PHD PROGRAMS

As a student in our Neuroscience PhD Program, you will work with world-renowned faculty on transformational science that that impacts human brain health and disease. Our research approach is rooted in integration across different levels of analysis and model systems, from molecular and cellular, to circuits, networks and systems, to normal and pathophysiological behaviors. You will be part of a team that drives discoveries from the lab to the bedside in an interconnected system with seamless access to research and clinical settings.

Make fundamental advances in the pathogenesis of depression, anxiety, stress, and trauma, and develop effective new treatments.

Study the mechanisms of epilepsy and evaluate medical treatments.

Study the external or environmental factors that turn genes 'on' and 'off' and affect how cells 'read' genes.

Characterize the epigenetic changes that affect gene expression in MS patients.

Learn how neural circuits form and modify to generate symptoms

Characterize key aspects of eating pathology and apply them to novel treatments for patients with eating, weight, and body image disorders.

Understand neural adaptations and how they affect brain and nervous system function.

Learn what causes and treats pain through mouse models, spasticity treatment, and spine health.

Investigate mutations in the LRRK2 and GBA genes, as well as identifying novel genes that confer disease risk.
