History of Medicine Lectures

When Mount Sinai School of Medicine was formed, Albert S. Lyons, MD, a surgeon on the staff, coordinated a series of lectures on the history of medicine. The speakers were either historians of medicine or Mount Sinai faculty discussing the history of their fields, usually as it played out at Mount Sinai. The latter group often knew many of the people they discussed and provide insights not available to outside historians. Many of the lectures were taped by Dr. Lyons, although not all tapes survived or were in good enough condition to transfer the sound to a digital medium.
