Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

To promote academic excellence and equitable care for all, The Tisch Cancer Institute is dedicated to supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the cancer workforce. We aim to foster an inclusive culture and maintain a nurturing and supportive environment that allows all members of our community to thrive and contribute towards achieving equity in science and medicine.

Our Commitment

The Tisch Cancer Institute is working toward the following diversity, equity, and inclusion goals.

  • Increasing diversity recruitment and retention. By leveraging Mount Sinai’s Biomedical Laureates Program and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) FIRST initiative, we aim to boost diversity among our basic and clinical research faculty and promote an academic culture of inclusive excellence.
  • Promoting mentoring and training opportunities for students, trainees, and investigators. The Tisch Cancer Institute works to provide inclusive and equitable mentorship and a supportive learning environment that cultivates success.
  • Supporting educational activities that enhance the diversity of the biomedical, behavioral, and clinical research workforce. We are committed to offering research experiences that explore health equity and disparities of care, as well as other related opportunities.
