Mentoring offers significant benefits for both mentors and mentees. For mentees, it can enhance career progression, increase productivity, and improve workplace satisfaction. For mentors, it provides opportunities to strengthen leadership and communication skills, contribute to workplace culture, and share knowledge. For both, mentoring relationships help build valuable social connections and expand professional networks.
Our new mentoring platform is available to all active part-time and full-time faculty at any Mount Sinai site and across all career tracks (clinician, educator, investigator, and researcher). We invite associate and full professors to complete mentor profiles, and assistant and associate professors to complete mentee profiles. Profiles take less than five minutes to complete, and you can update them at any time.
Once profiles are , mentees receive suggested mentor matches based on career needs and interests. They can request up to three mentors. Faculty can also search for mentors and filter results by criteria they select. The platform includes automated meeting reminders and faculty development plan templates for clinician/educator and investigator/researcher tracks.
Goals
The goals of the program are to:
- Make sure that all faculty who want mentors are able to arrange them
- Facilitate mentoring across departments and sites
- Build connections between clinical and research faculty
- Provide valuable feedback to department leaders about unmet faculty mentoring needs within their own department
